This Week In Sleaze 6: Double Bill – Escape From Brothel & Robotrix

King Who? has officially retired for the moment (but we’ll be keeping the intro in honor) after a bizarre gardening accident involving tightie whities but Sleazy K has found another person with rape in his prime vocabulary: Great Lord Josh Regal! Actually it’s Josh from our friends at VCinema who joins K for the awaited double bill review of Johnny Wang’s Escape from Brothel and Jamie Luk’s Robotrix. You watch Billy Chow rape some stuff and then come back to our discussion!

Ken’s note: The show is id’d as episode 5 when it’s in fact episode 6. Pardon me.

The Director’s Series 1: One Way Only (1981) & Brothers From The Walled City (1982)

Welcome to the debut of The Director’s Series where we try and expand your knowledge (if you want it that is) of directors you may love via only one movie, may love via multiple movies but don’t know the name to put next to that love. Starting with Nam Nai-choi, the director of Story Of Ricky, Ken and David go back to the very beginning and examines Nam’s first two movies as director (at Shaw Brothers to boot). Expect talks of Nam himself, Danny Lee, Chin Siu-ho, Phillip Ko and Johnny Wang.

Podcast On Fire 96: Nothing To Be Snorted At

Phil Gillon of Eastern Film Fans.co.uk joins Stoo and Ken for what will sound like a cocaine fueled, fun time (ironically enough, Phil’s last guest spot was on episode 89: Bong Bak) as the trio rolls through network updates, why A Better Tomorrow 3 is underrated, why Spirited Away still chokes Stoo up and why the reputation Takashi Miike’s 13 Assassins is very much deserved! Also listener questions and ‘Make Ken Watch A (dark Japanese) Film’ which this week is the 1969 movie Boy.  All complete wih jingles!
