14 Blades (2010)

Set during the Ming Dynasty, the Emperor creates a secure group of bodyguards called the “Jinyiwei”, the group is led by Qinglong (Donnie Yen) bestowed upon him is the deadly 14 Blades, 8 of the blades are used for interrogation and the remaining 4 are used for execution.

When the Imperial Court is seized by the evil eunuch Jia, Qinglong is assigned to steal a list identifying those still loyal to the Emperor. But unknown to him, the Jinyiwei themselves have double crossed Qinglong for Jia, who, in league with an exiled noble, Prince Qing (Sammo Hung), is plotting to rebel against the Emperor and seize power.

During his mission to obtain the list, Qinglong is betrayed by his own men and barely escapes with his life. Now, a wanted man, he must seek out and rally the loyalists to rise against Jia and restore the Emperor to power. “14 Blades” flying your way this August!

Icon Home Entertainment are helming the release of the latest Donnie Yen feature to these United shores. A DVD and Blu-Ray release have been planned for the 16th August (My birthday is Friday 13th btw, pre-orders will be accepted…). Mulan: Warrior Princess (2009)

Set in period China, our story revolves around Hua Mulan (Vicki Zhao), a young tomboy, rather than looking for a husband, she has spent her life learning martial arts. When the emperor orders all able men to enlist in the army, Mulan discusses  takes the place of her ill father (Yu Rong-Guang).

Mulan is accompanied by her childhood friend Tiger (Jaycee Chan), the two befriend General Wentai (Chen Kun). Wentai discovers that Mulan is a woman and tries to convince her to leave, but after Mulan saves his life, the two become a unstoppable duo that quickly rise amongst the ranks of the army as they battle against the deadly Rouran hordes! My Dream Girl (2003)

Ning (Vicki Zhao) is a village girl from one of the poorest areas in Shanghai, yet one day her multi-millionaire car Tycoon Father, Cheung (Richard Ng) finds her for the first time. The only way Ning could believe that she was his daughter was by the identical photographs they have of Ning (aged six), Cheung (with hair) and her late mother.

With Cheung being a very wealth he’s planning to have a very important dinner party with guests including the British Ambassador and his son Frankie. Cheung is planning to set his daughter up with Frankie and hope for the best. Yet Ning’s image isn’t very suitable…so he puts up a notice for an Image Consultant, to transform her from the average village girl to Shanghai Beauty Queen.
