Let’s get experimental! Seeing as I enjoy the company of my co-host so much and he’s got an advantage of following current Hong Kong cinema due to being IN Hong Kong (and sits on a wealth of knowledge about its current status, its players), I thought this episode would serve as an experiment, a test run of me, Kenny B, interviewing my guest about some of the latest releases. Meaning I haven’t had a chance to see, I couldn’t see nor wanted to see possibly but hey, at least the spotlight is away from me for once and onto Paul Fox. Asia on Film emailed us over the weekend, remember when Mike Banner discussed trailers of movies coming soon? Well one of these titles are ready for release! Asia on Film being based on the UK Shores means that long wait for postage is gone! For those not familiar with the plot;

Champion competitive marksman Ken comes across an armored van robbery. He sees a policeman held hostage and shoots and kills four of the robbers. One of the robbers escapes and the policeman survives. The case is handled by Jerry Chang, whom Ken knows from having recently beaten him in a shooting match. Ken is found not guilty in court. Soon after, Ken is attacked by the escaped robber Pang Tao…

Two years have pasted from the last election in Wo Shing Triad Society, it’s time for Lok (Simon Yam) to give up his post as the Godfather. Candidates for his place is Jimmy (Louis Koo), Jet (Nick Cheung) and Kun. All the favours point towards Jimmy, although he doesn’t want to become the godfather. Jimmy wants to leave the gang and continue to run his buisness producing porn discs.

When doing buiness in China Jimmy is arested. When released on bail he is told by the Chinese Security Bureau Chief that he is only allowed to travel to China as a tourist and not buisness. Jimmy is desparte to expand his company over to the mainland so the cops give him a propersition, win the election and you’ll have all the business power you want in China.

Things get complicated when a greedy Lok plans on making sure he’s re-elected for a second term… Read More

The time has come, as it does every two years, for the senior members of Hong Kong’s oldest Triad, the Wo Shing Society, to elect a new chairman. Fierce rivalries emerge between the two eligible candidates. Lok (Simon Yam), respected by the Uncles, is the favorite to win. But his rival Big D (Tony Leung) will stop at nothing to change this, including going against hundreds of years of Triad tradition and influencing the vote with money and violence.

When Wo Shing’s ancient symbol of leadership, the Dragon’s Head Baton, goes missing, a ruthless struggle for power erupts and the race to retrieve the Baton threatens to tear Wo Shing in two.
