These three films take us through three very different variations on that side of his career, from the sex-farce anthology structure of Hello, Late Homecomers, through the increasingly dark and unhinged comedy of From Riches to Rags, to the Chaplin-inspired Laughing Times. We provide some background on each, look at where they sit within Woo’s career, and see what, if anything, of the filmmaker to come can be spotted underneath all the comedy.
