Firmly going on record what Wong Kar-wai films they love (and hate), Stoo and Ken lead a show that also includes a major sales pitch for the McDull-franchise (and merchandise). Check out the imbedded videos below for a look at the love directed towards each respective character brought up in this podcast. DO EXCUSE THE TECHNICAL IMPERFECTIONS OF THE SHOW AGAIN. WE PROMISE TO GET BETTER.
It may be the third but not the last JOF as Ken once again host a fun-filled episode where the trio discuss samurai movies. Don’t expect any refined opinions though on The Twilight Samurai and Samurai Commando. We’re not scholars. DO NOTE THAT SPOILERS FOR THE TWILIGHT SAMURAI ARE DISCUSSED BETWEEN 00:58:50 AND 01:02:28. Adam Torel also stops by for a visit to share his thoughts on the genre. Some technical issues resulted in the latter half of the show being noticeable lower on Ken and Mike’s end while Stoo is very loud and Ken’s chat with Adam for some reason has an echo on it. Don’t hate us.
Adam Torel of Third Window Films join the trio after a barrage of heat and films at the Cannes Film Festival to talk of impressions of Thirst, the new film from Chan Wook-Park. Him AND Ken weigh in on the Casshern-war and issues of collecting limited editions, out of print dvd’s etc. gets a discussion where YOU the listener might finally find out if you’re insane, a collector or somewhere in between. The discussion doesn’t end just because the plugging starts either. Remember that. A hefty amount of deleted conversations can be found in the Members Only forum as well.

As the Stoo is away (enjoying social life instead…Guitar Hero) for the opening of the show there will be no Storm Warriors gushing for our demoted host as Ken and Mike open an echoey (sorry about that) first 12 minutes with trailer discussion of hot movies coming out of Asia. Eventually some of them will reach the UK so the trio share their thoughts and covers the current cinema climate for Asian cinema in the UK. There’s also a feelgood story within in the plugging so join us the entire way through why don’t ya? Also featuring over 12 minutes of deleted conversations that were deleted for a reason. Pish but fun.
What do you mean this picture has nothing to do with the show!!
Ken hosts just because he can and aside from discussing in depth our last movies watched and Stoo admitting he’s found his new Dragon Tiger Gate, the trio takes us through thoughts on if Shaw Brothers movies got any chance on the UK dvd market. It’s fun and illuminating, kidz. Read the rest of this entry »
Podcast on Fire 46: The re-launch of Shaw Brothers dvd’s in Hong Kong… horse crap or dreams come true?
Couldn’t decide what to use as cover art, so when in doubt…
The Magnificent Trio does need to discuss Silverhawk a little bit but rightfully time is spent on the only vaguely official announcement that Shaw Brothers movies are hitting dvd in Hong Kong again. With a list that will wet anyone’s appetite, is it safe to assume this boner-inducing list of movies will produce actual dvd releases? Mike also recommends a lot of Mainland Chinese Martial arts and a lot of movies in general while Stoo gets a title to go with his supreme Young And Dangerous-knowledge. Acronyms are fun.
