Thirst (2009)

Veteran actor  Song Kang-Ho plays the role of Sang-hyun, a catholic priest who helps anyone in need. He takes part in a trip to South Africa, donating his body to science. Contracting a deadly virus, Sang-hyun receives a blood transfusion which infuses him with a great energy and a uncontrollable lust for blood.

Upon his return to Korea he’s reunited with childhood friends Tae-Ju and Kang-Woo, who are now grown up and became a “married” couple. The couple live with Kangs mother, the hostess of the weekly mahjong games. Each night Tae-Ju spends the night running through the quiet streets, running from her troubles in life and her shame of a marriage.

“Jiang Hu” & “Thirst” DVD/BR Info!

Asian Cinema fans unite! We’re being treated to a couple of quality DVD/Blu-Ray Releases over the next few months. First of all we have the Hong Kong triad flick with a juggernaut cast – Jiang Hu. The 2004 Jiang Hu stars Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Shawn Yue and Celebrity Muff photographer Edison Chen. The DVD hits the shelves on November 30th at the respectable price of £15.99 (or £10.99). Special Features include: “Making of” featurette; music video; trailer; 2.0 and 5.1 Dolby Digital and 5.1 DTS Surround audio options; optional English subtitles.

Korean Cinema steps in on our Vampire trend with Park Chan-Wooks Vampire thriller – Thirst. Thirst hits the shelves on both DVD (RRP £19.99 OR £12.99)and Blu-Ray (RPP £24.99 OR £17.99) on January 25th.Thirst stars some of Koreas biggest stars, including; Song Kang-Ho, Shin Ha-kyun and Kim Ok-vin. The bountiful special features include – Audio commentary by director Park Chan-wook; Dolby 2.0 and 5.1 and half-rate DTS 5.1 audio options; trailer; UK exclusive interview with Park Chan-wook.

No DVD/BR Artwork  for Thirst is around yet, but we’ll keep posted.

Thirst gets a UK Cinema Release

The recently merged Palisade|Tartan have the rights to Park Chan-Wooks “Thirst” starring Song Kang-Ho. The Premier is on the 2nd October in London. Then released at selected cinemas Friday 16th October. Then we can expect a DVD in the New Year!
