Born and raised in Scotland, I have appreciated Asian Cinema since 2003. I founded and ran the movie review site Hong Kong Cinema UK for five years, before closing it to launch Podcast on Fire. Aside from my half-arsed hosting, I also edit the show, do the majority of the posting and reintroducing old reviews from HKCuk back onto the web.

When it comes to Asian Cinema my favourite stars include (let’s get the obvious one out of the way first) Ekin Cheng, Lam Ching-Ying and Chin Kar-Lok. Other stars that usually convince me to pick movies include Louis Koo, Jordan Chan, Maggie Cheung, Donnie Yen and Francis Ng. Of course we can’t forget the greats; Chow Yun-Fat, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Jet Li and anyone with the name Yuen!

I’ve written articles for Impact (a three page article on the Young and Dangerous series) & Jade Screen Magazine (Discussions on Wilson Yip’s Flashpoint as well as my summary of the movie Triangle). A life ambition would be to write a fiction novel set in Dunkeld.

In my spare time I enjoy reading Biographies (mostly professional wrestlers… yes I’m surprised they can write too), the Alex Cross books by James Patterson and the Robert Langdon books by Dan Brown were fun. I’m more than happy to read any recommendation given. I really enjoy doing sponsored walks for charity, “Walk for Scotland” (2008 – 6 Mile, 2009 – 12 Mile) and “The Great Edinburgh Run” (2009 – 6 Mile). Next year I intend on taking part in the Edinburgh Moonwalk, a 26 mile walk across Edinburgh starting at midnight. This is an event to raise awareness of breast cancer, thus everyone participating in the walk must were bras! The walk should take around 8-10 hours to complete.

Other than that: Video Games, working out, music, festivals and alcohol.
