Heroes shed no tears (1986)

A war movie made in the eighties…

Let me tell you know, this is no Eastern Condors. Here’s the plot; Thai government hires group of Chinese mercenaries (including Leading man, Eddy Ko) to capture powerful drug lord from Golden Triangle. The group of mercenaries manage to capture their target, even with the odds against them. Yet the drug lord has been leaving a trail of clues so his men can retrace his steps…But Along the way mercenaries bump into a Vietnamese general (played by Lam Ching-Ying) and end up shooting him in the eye!

Yes a bizarre war movie by Woo. With unnecessary nudity and a some strong violence, this movie stands out well from other John Woos past movies.

Eddy Ko character has a dream of living in America with his son. For him to live his dream he must successfully complete his mission of kidnapping the Thai Drug lord and bring him to the authorities.

The Vietnamese General (not given an actual name, we’ll calm him General Lam) seems to be a normal general, but with a clean cut image and a icy stare. When are group of French travelers (2 men and a woman) accidentally crash head first into the camps gate, the general wasn’t pleased. After shooting dead the male travelers viciously. General Lam leaves his men with the women, of courses they attempt rape, but she escapes, which turns into a tasteless shot of the women running with a open top in slow motion…

General Lam gets ready to shoot her dead, but Ko swiftly takes down Lam. The scene with the scope was done quite well actually…

Well as you can tell this is a pretty average film, but with some good action. If you’re a big fan of John Woo see it. If you’re a big fan of the late Lam Ching-Ying see it. If you’re a big fan of Porn, your dirty!
